| About Me
Haochen Wu has earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Scientific Computing at the University of Michigan, under the supervision of Prof. Bogdan Epureanu, Director of UM Automotive Research Center. Wu has extensive research experience in reinforcement learning, multiagent systems, human-AI collaboration, and explainable AI. He has always wanted to empower AI to be not only effective but also responsible with a focus on human-centric solutions.

[Jun. 2024] I successfully defended my PhD dissertation: "Coordination Strategies for Human-Autonomy Teaming: Learning, Interpretation, and Adaptation".
[Apr. 2024] "Dynamic task planning for autonomous reconfigurable manufacturing systems by knowledge-based multi-agent reinforcement learning" was published in CIPR Annals - Manufacturing Technology.
[Feb. 2024] "SafeAR: Safe Algorithmic Recourse by Risk-Aware Policies" was accepted and presented (2%) at the 38th Annual AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI'24). The work is in collaboration with J.P. Morgan AI Research on Safe Algorithmic Recourse.
[Oct. 2023] "Evaluating Emergent Coordination in Multi-Agent Task Allocation through Causal Inference and Sub-Team Identification" was published in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters (RA-L) and presented at the 2023 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS).
[Sep. 2023] I received MICDE Fellowship 2023-2024, University of Michigan.
[May 2023] "Multiagent Inverse Reinforcement Learning via Theory of Mind" was accepted as a full paper (23%) and presented at the 22nd International Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS'23).
[Dec. 2022] "Human-Autonomy Teaming in Immersive Environments" was published and presented at the 2022 Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando, FL.
[Aug. 2022] I completed my Research Intern in AI at SRI International on DARPA ASIST.
